Goin' "Banana" over Birkin!

Now, here’s a sassy bag that will surely get your heads turning twice…or even thrice!

Back in April 2010, the Birkin was announced to be “waitlist-free” mainly due to global recession! But in some countries, the most sought-after bag still remains to have a long waitlist…the “Banana Birkin” that is!

The newcomer “Banana Birkin” bag came about as a parody to the infamous Hermes Birkin. With the global economy entering recession, the high price of a Birkin contrary to the recession, and with the burgeoning fight against global warming, a Taiwanese company thought of using the Birkin’s eminent design and made it into a fashionable eco-friendly bag.

The Banana Birkin bag, which was released in April 2010 when the Taiwanese company was established, is actually made of eco-friendly canvas material with a high-resolution image of the Birkin on all 5 sides of the bag—the front, the back, two sides, plus the bottom—and the handles as well!

According to the manufacturer, they can only make around 6 bags per hour, since the bag is semi-handmade. They work closely on the details, making sure that each bag is identical with the others.

As of date, the Banana Birkin comes in six colors:

 lake blue

sunset orange

tiffany blue

green grass 

 sweet pink

midnight magenta

For the Christmas season, they have just released four new colors which you can see in the images below.

Another delightful news showing the Banana Birkin taking centerstage is from Filipino-Canadian designer Jasper Garvida's Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion show at the London Fashion Week. Jasper Garvida is the recent winner of Project Catwalk (the British counterpart of Project Runway). In Jasper Garvida's London Fashion Week Fashion Show, he gave away grey-colored Banana Birkin bags to all his invited guests. This color is not currently available in the catalog and was made specially for his fashion show.

Since it was launched last April 2010, the Banana Birkin bag has taken over the Hermes Birkin in terms of waitlisted customers. The Banana Birkin has a waitlist period of around 2-3 months due to the swarm of customers racing against each other to owning this sassy arm candy.

BUT, as your ever reliable bag fairy, I am making the Banana Birkin available to you by the DECEMBER 2010!  Only a limited number of bags per color will be coming in, so if you see a color that you like, just let me know!

Wonderful White Welcome

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!  Sorry for the late greeting, I've been busy these couple of weeks.

Looking back, 2010 was a great year, wasn’t it?!  The Philippines elected a new President, Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao won 3 fights within a year, and of course, Longchamp de Manille opened its online shop last October 2010!  Plus, I don't think I'll ever get over the gorgeous Black Roses velvet bag that Longchamp released last year.  It's the prettiest thing I've seen in 2010!  In sum, it was predominantly exciting for Longchamp to end the year with the release of the new Spring/Summer 2011 collection of bags, which included the LM Metal ‘Or Rose’ (Pinky Gold) bag, last December.

As a treat for 2011, Longchamp just recently released the LM Metal bag in Blanc (White)!  Now, there’s something to make the start of 2011 exciting!  Following the design of last season’s LM Metal collection, the LM Metal bag in Blanc, which follows the release of the LM Metal 'Or Rose' (Pinky Gold), still comes in a metallic fashion, but in White!  You'd never find a metallic white bag as lovely, functional, and sturdy as Longchamp's!

Longchamp really does have a way to capture our hearts…and wallets!

Were you one of those who instantly became a fan of Longchamp’s LM Metal collection as soon as it was released in Spring of 2010?  Well, this must be déjà vu for you!!!

LM Metal Gold bags or better know as LM Metal "OR ROSE" Bags….yes, that’s right…LM Metal in GOLD with a slight hint of PINKISH ROSE shade!!!

The new LM Metal "Or Rose" bags are brutally gorgeous!  It’s a totally different take from this current season’s darker metal colors—the steel (acier) and bronze.  The LM Metal "Or Rose" bags come in the shade of gold that seems to have a hint of rose, but only very subtle.  What makes it even lovelier is that it has gold zipper pulls, gold zipper, and gold snaps—everything is gold, gold, gold!
